I’m actually incredibly lazy when it comes to skincare. Shocking I know. If you can’t actually see it, like make up, and it isn’t for a special occasion then it will eventually be dropped from my daily routine and fall by the wayside. Add to that the fact that I hate the feeling of having greasy hands after applying moisturiser, and you’ll find that the majority of the time my skin is crying out for some rehydration.
In the past I’ve faithfully relied on either Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter, which is heavenly in every way, or a combination of two Lush products, namely Dream Cream and Sympathy For Your Skin. Both are fabulous, big tubs of very thick, buttery and tasty-smelling natural goop. The only problem being that, as I’ve said, I hate the feel of the greasiness after moisturising and the feel of the excess that gets under my nails. Ick.
So imagine my excitement when I heard that The Body Shop sell a spray on moisturiser. Even better, it comes in one of my all time favourite scents; coconut. I think coconut is the right mix of sweet and nutty without being sickly or childish like strawberry scents and vanillas can be. Also, it reminds me of sunny holidays. Hardly a bad thing.
I gleefully skipped off down to The Body Shop to grab myself a large 250ml bottle (reasonably priced at £8) and tried it out as soon as I got home.
Sadly it wasn’t quite as I’d imagined…
The way I’d heard it described suggested that it came out as a fine mist, kind of like a creamy oil spray, like Caudalie Beauty Elixir style, that you could spray all over and rub in effortlessly. That would’ve been perfect.
Instead it came out as a big wet splat of white slime. It took three or four splats per leg to get the right amount to rub in.
But it’s not all bad. It does smell pretty scrummy. It gives a nice amount of moisture to my skin while absorbing easily and doesn’t seem to leave my hands feeling like I’ve been playing with lard. It also doesn’t get under my nails because I’m not scooping it out of a tub. So in that respect its a nice product. But I’ll definitely still be keeping my eyes peeled for a fine spritz of moisture for a quicker fix.
If you know of anything that fits the bill please let me know!
