I’m sure you’ve noticed by now my love of the colour grey so naturally I’ve been delighted to note that currently grey, and in particular, grey nail varnish, seems to be bang on trend.
So of course I had to nab myself some.
It’s a colour that is incredibly versatile. One could wear it with a sharp suit and go full-on formal, or with an LBD and a large faux diamond encrusted neck party, to either work or play. Alternatively wear the grey nail with leggings and a cream jumper for a more casual look. Try out some black skinnies and a leather jacket for that grungy blend of casual, rock the trend with your bikini on the beach for a cool rebellion against this summer’s neon brights or go girly with a hot pink blazer and pale grey nails to tone down the Barbie look.
I’ve had a shop around and the grey trend seems to come in so many shades and finishes; pastel or charcoal, matte or shiny, glittery or metallic. (Though I can’t pretend I’m a fan of glittery or metallic).
Special mentions to the Dior ‘Gris Montaigne’, Nars ‘Storm Bird’, Chanel ‘Particulière‘ and OPI ‘French Quarter For Your Thoughts’.
I ummed and ahhed and finally went for the OPI, as shown above. I like their enormous brushes and generally find them to be decent quality at an affordable price. The Dior is a close second but actually a bit too metallic for me when I tested it, the Nars is great but quite dark and bluey and the Chanel is really a lot more beige in real life than I was expecting.
But all’s well that ends well; the OPI didn’t disappoint. It goes on nicely and I really do like the colour.
In fact it’s a perfect match for my new grey Mango skinny jeans.
